About the Role

Kericell Nursery Ltd is seeking a dedicated Nursery Production Manager to manage the complete outside operations of our nursery. You will be responsible for ensuring that production runs efficiently, effectively, and profitably while leading from the front to set high standards of work ethic and quality. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends practical nursery work with strategic planning and organisational management.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Production Management: Oversee all aspects of plant production, including seeding, watering, pruning, and fertilisation programs.

  • Technical Oversight: Manage pest control and spraying programs; research and implement new technologies to improve efficiency.

  • Planning & Forecasting: Develop long-term production plans, manage seasonal changes, and coordinate pre-orders while recording and analysing production figures.

  • Team Leadership: Manage staffing levels, delegate daily tasks, and create training programs to support staff development in plant care techniques.

  • Supply & Coordination: Maintain supply levels, manage vendor relationships, and coordinate closely with the Administration and Logistics departments.

  • Compliance & Quality: Establish and enforce quality standards through regular inspections and ensure total compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Customer Engagement: Address customer inquiries or complaints and develop strategies to enhance satisfaction.

Terms and Conditions

  • Location: 1589 State Highway 10, Kerikeri, Northland.

  • Type of Employment: Full-time, Permanent.

  • Rate of Pay: NZD $28.00 – $35.00 per hour.

  • Guaranteed Hours: Minimum of 30 hours per week.

    • Note: Actual expected hours are 50–60 hours per week, generally scheduled between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.

  • Work Environment: Includes both outdoor and indoor environments.

Minimum Skills and Experience Required

  • Work Experience: Proven experience in a senior nursery management or supervisory role.

  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in plant care techniques (propagation, irrigation, and pest management).

  • Managerial Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead large crews, manage staff rosters, and implement training programs.

  • Systems & Planning: Strong computer and organisational skills with the ability to analyse production data and forecast future requirements.
