Marketing Specialist – Trade & Channel (Foodservice/Wholesale)

WHEATZ BAKERY CITY LIMITED trading as WHEATZ BAKERY is seeking a capable, reliable and growth-minded Marketing Specialist to accelerate wholesale brand presence for Wheatz Bakery and Kungfu Bakery across cafés, restaurant chains and specialty retailers in New Zealand.

About the role – Key tasks and responsibilities

This role owns the trade marketing strategy to expand and steward wholesale presence for Wheatz Bakery and Kungfu Bakery across cafés, chains and specialty retail; generate qualified B2B demand and brand preference to lift wholesale share and visibility in target channels.

  • Lead the wholesale and channel marketing strategy for cafés, quick-service restaurants, hotels and specialty retail, including customer segmentation, brand positioning and the annual channel plan.

  • Own the go-to-market plan for product launches into wholesale channels, recommending pricing structures, promotion calendars and persuasive selling stories.

  • Design and execute trade campaigns and menu-integration programs; brief and manage creative work, point-of-sale materials, tasting kits and sampling activities.

  • Build and maintain sales and marketing collateral for enterprise customers (catalogues, detailed product specifications, case studies, persuasive presentations) with strict brand consistency.

  • Generate customer and category insights through market and competitor analysis and customer research; turn findings into clear channel plans.

  • Develop lead-generation programs across industry events, partnerships and digital enquiry funnels; equip the sales team with playbooks and materials for handover of qualified prospects.

  • Define and track channel performance measures (for example: number of qualified enquiries, campaign effectiveness, adoption of new launches, share of range with key accounts) and run post-campaign evaluations with dashboards.

  • Manage the channel marketing budget and supplier relationships; negotiate scopes of work and monitor delivery against objectives.

  • Partner with new product development, operations and sales to align forecasts, packaging and launch readiness; set pricing guardrails and channel policies.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Employment Type: Full time, permanent

  • Hours: fixed 30 hours per week

  • Pay Rate: $26 - $34 per hour depending on the quality of your experience

  • Work location: Auckland CBD

  • Start Date: Immediate or by agreement

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Marketing, Business, Communications or a closely related field.

  • Experience: With no formal qualification, at least 5 years in marketing roles.

  • Proven experience launching products and running campaigns into café, restaurant chain or specialty retail channels are highly desirable.
