We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our friendly grocery store team in Omaha Beach as Second-in-Charge (2IC). This is a permanent, full-time position, offering a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Location: Omaha Beach, Auckland Region, New Zealand
Pay Rate: NZD $27 – $29 per hour (based on skills and experience)

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Compliance & Food Safety
- Ensure strict adherence to the Food Control Plan and food safety regulations.
- Conduct regular compliance checks and staff training in food safety.
- Maintain high health and safety standards and cleanliness within the store.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Support the Store Manager in training, motivating, and developing the team.
- Prepare and manage staff rosters effectively.
- Recognize and reward employee performance, enhancing team morale.
- Conduct induction and training programs for new staff members.
- Foster an inclusive and positive team culture.
Store Operations
- Oversee daily opening and closing operations.
- Manage inventory control, ordering, and regular stocktakes.
- Ensure store merchandising is visually appealing, clean, and well-stocked.
- Monitor stock rotation practices.
- Handle cash reconciliation, petty cash management, and banking duties.
Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service in a welcoming store environment.
- Resolve customer queries and complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Build strong relationships within the Omaha Beach community, promoting customer loyalty.
Compliance & Security
- Ensure adherence to The Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 once trained.
- Uphold all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain store security, including management of keys, alarms, and stock.
Requirements
- At least 12 months' relevant experience in a grocery/supermarket leadership role or retail leadership role (e.g., Duty Manager, Department Manager, or 2IC) OR relevant qualification.
- Drivers Licence (or overseas equivilent)
- Strong organisational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
- Physically fit to handle manual stock duties.
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and peak trading periods.
- Current Liquor Manager's Certificate advantageous, though not mandatory.
