Salary: Payrate $24 to $28

About the Role:

We are looking for two motivated and reliable Retail Store Assistants to join our friendly team at our busy store in Christchurch, Canterbury region. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and be committed to maintaining a clean and welcoming store environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers and provide excellent customer service
  • Assist with purchases, product enquiries, and complaints, escalating to management when required
  • Operate the cash register and handle payments accurately
  • Assist with order management, including receiving and checking stock
  • Stock shelves, rotate products, check expiry dates, and remove unsellable items
  • Package and merchandise products (including bagging lollies) and maintain tidy, appealing displays
  • Assist with inventory control and restocking as needed
  • Ensure the store is clean, safe, and well-presented at all times
  • Support team members to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Open and close the premises and follow security procedures
  • Comply with food safety, tobacco, and sales regulations
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required

Requirements:

  • Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not essential
  • Friendly and helpful attitude with good communication skills
  • Honest, punctual, and dependable
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically fit to handle standing for long periods and light lifting
  • Drug test and Ministry of Justice checks required.
