Position Title: Retail Assistant – Lawn Mower & Outdoor Power Equipment
Employment Type: Full-time / Permanent
Guaranteed Minimum Hours: 30 hours per week
Working Hours: 30–40 hours per week, rostered
Location of Work: Lynfield, Auckland
Reporting To: Store Manager / Business Owner
Purpose of the Role
The Retail Assistant supports the day-to-day operation of a specialist lawn mower and outdoor power equipment store, assisting customers with product selection, processing sales, handling stock, and supporting the service workshop. The role contributes to delivering a high standard of customer service while maintaining an organised, safe, and efficient retail environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Customer Service & Sales Support

Greet customers and assist with enquiries relating to lawn mowers, ride-on mowers, outdoor power equipment, spare parts, and accessories

Provide basic product information, pricing details, and availability

Process retail sales, invoices, and payments using POS and EFTPOS systems

Escalate technical or complex product enquiries to the mechanic or store manager
2. Stock Handling & Merchandising

Receive, unpack, label, and display stock in accordance with store standards

Maintain accurate pricing and product displays

Assist with stock rotation and basic inventory checks

Report low stock, damaged goods, or discrepancies to management
3. Workshop & Service Support

Book customer equipment in for servicing or repair

Communicate service timelines and basic updates to customers

Assist with the handling, movement, and storage of lawn mowers and machinery

Maintain basic service records and job cards as directed
4. Store Presentation & Operations

Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the showroom, parts area, and front-of-house

Assist with opening and closing procedures as rostered

Follow company policies, procedures, and instructions from management
5. Health, Safety & Compliance

Follow health and safety procedures when handling machinery and equipment

Identify and report hazards, incidents, or unsafe practices

Ensure customer areas are safe and free from obstructions
