We are a service delivery partner to Chorus Network and Downer. We are seeking experienced Telecommunication Technicians to help install, build, repair and maintain our clients’ fibre optic networks. We have projects running across the North and South Islands and are looking to fill in vacancies. You will need to be open to working between the regions at reasonable notice. The company will cover the cost of travel and temporary accommodation.

You will have experience in a relevant telecommunications environment. This job is strenuous and physical. You will need to be fit and healthy. You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will possess strong communication skills and maintain a professional attitude both on-site and when interacting with clients.

You will have the following:

At least 2 years of experience in a relevant telecommunications environment
Hands-on experience with telecom equipment and cabling
Understanding of VOIP !1voice, and data cabling
Knowledge and understanding of NGA designs & as-builts
A good understanding of health and safety
Clean, valid and Full Driver’s License
No criminal record
Drug-free (and be willing to undergo Drug Tests on request)
First Aid knowledge (or be willing to obtain)
WTC 3
WTC 1
Traffic control and Site Traffic Management certificates (or be willing to obtain)
Network know-how courses (or be willing to obtain)

Duties include:

All aspects of the Telecommunications network (NGA / UFB):

Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications and related equipment and systems like phones, internet, data networks (fibre), etc, ensuring networks run smoothly by troubleshooting, testing, and fixing faults in complex systems.
Upgrading and maintaining current telecommunications systems.
Monitor all services, identify issues and resolve any problems in equipment
Install and configure telecommunications and data transmission equipment such as ONT Router/Modem, etc.
Locating faults in telecommunications equipment using instruments such as a power meter light source, and a cable locator.
Running routine tests on telecommunications systems to ensure that all components are functioning at optimal levels.
Performing diagnostic testing on problematic telecommunications systems to identify and resolve various technical faults.
Performing temporary fixes until extensive repair work can be done.
Ordering replacement components for telecommunications equipment and devices from suitable vendors.
Investigating and resolving customers' complaints in a timely manner.
Adjusting, replacing and repairing faulty telecom equipment, and testing equipment using electronic instruments such as a power meter, light source.
Installation/repair and provisioning of Fibre (FTTH) and Ultrafast broadband (UFB) MDU, SDU & ROW.
Cable laying, Blowing, Splicing, Trenching, Troubleshooting.
Installing cabling for telephone, lotto, pay TV, wireless range extender and computer transmission.
Checking all wiring work done to ensure that there are no exposed cables.
Tracing and locating underground cable faults.
Performing outside boundary remediation OSB to fix underground faults on both concrete and soft surfaces.
Working both inside and outside of buildings, commercial and domestic.
