Sure Building Limited is a Cantubury-based construction company that has been successfully operating for over 20 years. Due to the continued growth of our business, we are seeking an experienced carpenter to join our team. This is a permanent, full time position, with a minimun of 30 hours per week guaranteed. The gross hourly pay rate will be between $30 and $36, depending on the applicant's experience and skills.

Sure Building Limited is seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenters to join our team in Canterbury. The successful candidates will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood and other materials in accordance with plans, specifications and New Zealand building standards.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and installation requirements.
  • Select, measure, cut, shape, and assemble timber and other materials using hand and power tools.
  • Construct, install, renovate, and repair wooden frameworks, roof framing, sub-flooring, floorboards, doors, windows, stairs, decks, fences, and retaining walls.
  • Install exterior and interior fittings, including cladding, fascia boards, and other finishing components.
  • Check alignment, level, and structural accuracy to ensure high-quality workmanship.
  • Repair or replace damaged or defective timber and other structural materials.
  • Work collaboratively with other tradespeople to ensure projects are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and maintain a clean and organised worksite

Skills and Experience Required

To be successful in this role, you must meet at least one of the following:

  • Hold a New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) or an equivalent overseas qualification; 
  • Have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience

Additional requirements:

  • hold a current site safe passport

  • have your own basic tools 

  • hold a full New Zealand driving licence and have reliable transport

  • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohal test 

  • Have sufficient English to understand health and safety instructions and communicate effectively on site
