We are seeking experienced Silviculture Workers for full-time permanent roles based in Blenheim, Marlborough. This role involves leading by example while carrying out high-quality silviculture tasks such as planting, spraying, pruning, and thinning. Responsibilities include planning work activities, operating tools and machinery, applying agrichemicals safely, supporting team members, and maintaining strong health and safety standards. Applicants must have at least two years’ industry experience and be physically fit.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Being responsible and leading by example, showing high levels of motivation and being motivating for others, addressing any employment relation issues promptly and the Director promptly of any employment relationship problems and conflicts arise, being respected of all colleagues.
• Consistently achieving strong production results and maintaining high-quality standards across key silviculture tasks, including planting, release spraying, pruning, and thinning.
• Planning, organising, and prepare silviculture activities by interpreting job prescriptions and maps, ensuring clarity of work requirements and providing direction to team members.
• Safely mixing, handling, and applying agrichemicals using a range of equipment, and manage storage and disposal in accordance with regulatory obligations and industry best practices.
• Facilitating tailgate meetings and health and safety briefings as required by the Director
• Working on quality assurance processes to measure performance against job prescription standards.
• Providing guidance and on-the-job support to new workers as they build skills and confidence.
• Improving vegetation firefighting skills, including being available for standby duties and wildfire responses during fire season.
• Operating a broad range of tools and machinery, including chainsaws, loppers, ladders, planting spades and frames, slashers, scrub bars, knapsack sprayers, poison applicators, fire pumps, hoses, and water-handling equipment.
• Reporting of all accidents and/or injuries which might occur during working hours no matter how minor
• Ensure that daily production targets are being met, taking responsibility for possible re-works, taking responsibility for the quality of their work and working according to job prescriptions.
Minimum requirements
• Minimum of two years practical experience in the industry.
• Must be physically fit, Healthy and Drug free
