Position Overview

The Construction Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of residential, commercial, and mixed-use building projects. This includes planning, coordinating, and managing resources, budgets, schedules, and risks to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with New Zealand building codes and contractual requirements. The role requires close collaboration with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure end-to-end project delivery and high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of construction projects from pre-construction to handover, ensuring compliance with designs, specifications, and NZ building standards.
  • Direct and coordinate on-site activities, including subcontractors, suppliers, and site staff, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Develop, monitor, and control project budgets, schedules, and resource allocations.
  • Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted works, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality standards.
  • Identify and manage project risks, variations, and change control, implementing timely solutions to minimise delays or cost overruns.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, architects, engineers, and local authorities to ensure effective communication and project coordination.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction quality and compliance.
  • Lead and motivate project teams, fostering a strong safety culture and high workforce performance.

 

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building, or a related field

  • Proven experience managing construction or building projects, preferably across residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders, complex project timelines, and project budgets.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team management skills.
