Position Summary:
We are seeking skilled Carpenters to join our team,responsible for the construction, installation, and maintenance of wooden structures, fixtures, and fittings in compliance with New Zealand's building codes and safety standards. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of carpentry tasks, from interpreting and reviewing building plans to the execution of complex woodwork. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and a strong focus on safety and quality.
Responsibilities of this role:
- Reviewing and interpreting building plans and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
- Erecting and setting up wooden structures such as walls, staircases, window frames and door frames in line with project specifications.
- Carrying out interior woodwork installations, ensuring customer satisfaction according to plans, schedules and specifications.
- Ordering and selecting timber and materials, preparing layouts for construction, and ensuring material availability.
- Crafting, fitting and installing woodwork, wooden structures, wallboard, timber flooring, and window frames.
- Assembling and nailing pre-prepared wood components to from structures and fittings.
- Measuring and cutting materials to the right size and shape for installation.
- Removing outdated fittings and carrying out necessary repairs to maintain the integrity and functionality of the structure.
- Maintain and clean company tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Reporting any equipment defects or damage to management to ensure workplace safety and compliance.
- Adhering to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations while ensuring work meets New Zealand’s building standards.
Job pre-requisites:
- At least two years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a relevant level 4 or above qualification is required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Eyes for details and a hard-working attitude.
- Good understanding of New Zealand building codes, health and safety regulations, and industry standards is preferred.
