Truck Driver

Experienced Class 5 driver in Auckland is demanded. This is a permanent full-time position with minimum guaranteed 30 hours a week, with hours up to 50 a week.

This role is to provide the most efficient and cost effective transport solutions for machinery, containers, bulk freight, vehicles and trailers throughout New Zealand, providing our customers with excellent service and a can-do solution to their problems.

The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

• At ALL times be responsible for the safe, efficient operation of your assigned vehicle in compliance with ALL legal requirements and relevant legislation which includes but is not limited to Work Time and Log Books 2007
• Accurately complete your drivers log utilising the E-Road app.
• Complete all pre-driving vehicle checks and record them utilising the E-Road app.
• Report all accidents, incidents and near misses (including damage to freight that you are carrying) to your supervisor immediately. This applies in all situations whether you are directly involved or a witness to the event.
• Complete all required claim forms and/or investigations within 3 days of the accident or incident occurring. In the event of being involved in an accident, collect all required information from the other party and DO NOT admit liability.
• Use your available driving hours solely in the employ and for the benefit of PTS Group Ltd. You may not use your driving hours for the benefit of any other person or entity, whether paid or unpaid, without the express permission of senior management.
• Supervise or help with the loading and unloading of your assigned vehicle in accordance with the Truck Loading Code.
• Responsible for checking the condition of the load you are carrying and ensuring that it is safe and secure at all times.
• Advise your dispatcher immediately if you are asked to undertake work which will not fit within your remaining legal driving hours so that an alternative driver can be assigned to complete the work.
• Be responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all paperwork relating to the operation of your vehicle and the pickups and deliveries that you undertake. You are required to complete all such paperwork and be fully accountable for it until handed over to your supervisor at the end of each period of work.

To be qualified for this role, you need to demonstrate:

• At least 2-year relevant experience, preferably obtained in New Zealand
• Holding a clean and valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
• Strong geographical knowledge of New Zealand, particularly Auckland
• Reliable and able to work on over the weekends and public holidays if required
• Ability to complete works in an efficient and timely manner.
