Shift Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate store staff during shifts, including cashiers and floor team members

• Ensure high levels of customer service and promptly resolve customer enquiries and complaints

• Oversee cash handling procedures, including cash register operations and end-of-shift reconciliation

• Maintain store presentation standards, including merchandising, shelf stocking, and cleanliness

• Monitor stock levels, support inventory management, and assist with stock ordering and stocktakes

• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and store policies

• Assist with staff training and performance monitoring

• Implement promotional strategies to achieve sales targets

Skills and Experience Required:

• NZ Certificate in Retail (Level 3 or 4) or equivalent qualification; or

• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant retail supervisory experience (experience may substitute for formal qualification)

• Previous experience in grocery or supermarket operations is preferred

• Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management is an advantage

• Proven supervisory or leadership experience in retail or grocery operations

• Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks

• Basic numeracy skills for cash handling and inventory management

• Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays
