Job Details:

  • Full time and permanent role: 30 - 50 hours per week

As the business continues to expand its operations, some projects are located outside Auckland, including a current project in the Otago region. To ensure consistent workmanship, meet contractual timelines, and maintain quality standards, the employer occasionally requires experienced staff from the Auckland-based team to provide short-term, project-based support in Otago. These roles remain primarily based in Auckland, and any work undertaken outside of Auckland (like Otago) is temporary and directly related to specific project requirements.

Detailed descriptions of tasks required:

  1. Lays building materials, such as brick, structural tile, and concrete cinder, glass, gypsum, and terra cotta block to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, sewers, and other structures:

  2. Measures distance from reference points and marks guidelines on working surface to lay outwork.

  3. Spreads soft bed of mortar that serves as base and binder for block, using trowel.

  4. Applies mortar to end of block and positions block in mortar bod.

  5. Taps block with trowel to level, align, and embed in mortar, allowing specified thickness of Joint.

  6. Removes excess mortar from face of block, using trowel,

  7. Finishes mortar batmen brick with pointing tool or trowel.

  8. Breaks bricks to fit spaces too small for whole brick, using edge of trowel or brick hammer.

  9. Determines vertical and horizontal alignment of courses, using plumb bob, gauge tine, and level.

  10. Fastens brick or tetra cotta veneer to face of structures, with tie wires embedded in mortar between bricks, or In and holes in veneer brick.

  11. May apply plaster to walls and ceiling, Using trowel, to complete repair work.

  12. Other duties may be reasonably required by the business representative

 

Job pre-requisites: 

  • Have at least 2 years of working experience in a similar role (Experience gained in the construction industry will also be considered as meeting the experience requirement), and it needs to be verified

  • Relevant qualification or certificate is preferable but not a must

  • Attention to details and a hard-working attitude.

  • physically capable of performing heavy work be able to work overtime 

  • excellent work ethic and great time management passion for the industry

  • The successful candidate must not have any criminal convictions
