Position: Painter

Location: Auckland

Type: Full-time Permanent (Minimum 30 hours per week)

Hourly Rate: $30 per hour

LEWIS DEVELOPMENT LIMITED is seeking full-time permanent Painters (Painting Trades Workers) to join our Auckland-based team. We work on residential painting projects and require painters who can deliver high-quality work and follow health and safety requirements on active sites.

Key tasks & responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting (washing, sanding, scraping, filling, patching, smoothing)

  • Protect surrounding areas and set up worksite (masking, drop sheets, ladders/scaffolding safety checks)

  • Mix and match paint colours; select appropriate primers, sealers, and coatings

  • Apply paint/varnish using brushes, rollers, and (where required) spray equipment

  • Apply finishes to a high standard (including decorative finishes where required)

  • Maintain tools/equipment and ensure clean-up on completion

  • Follow workplace health & safety requirements and site rules

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors/site managers and meet project timelines

 

Minimum requirements (must meet at least ONE of the following)

  • NZQA Level 4 Certificate (or equivalent) in Construction / Painting / Decorating (or related field), OR

  • At least 2 years (minimum 24 months) of full-time, relevant work experience

Other requirements

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good time management and attention to detail
  • Physically fit and able to work on construction sites
  • Full driver licence preferred
