Painter

Employment type: full-time, permanent
Minimum Hours per week: 30 hours per week

We are seeking four skilled and experienced Painters to join our team.

Job duties:

• Protect the carpets, windows and other adjacent areas from paint splattering by placing drop sheets;
• Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces;
• Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool;
• Removing old paint from surfaces, using paint removers, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting;
• Fills holes, cracks and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other filler, using a caulking gun and putty knife;
• Select premixed paints, or mix required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare a colour that matches specified colours;
• Paint surfaces using brushes, spray guns, or paint rollers;
• Apply paint with cloth, brush, sponge and other tools to create special effects;
• Keep repair and maintenance records.

Job pre-requisites:

• A qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 4 in a relevant field.
• At least two years of work experience in construction industry may substitute for the qualification.
• Relevant experience in repair, maintenance, or decorating will be an advantage.
• Eyes for details and a hard-working attitude.
• Being physically fit.
• Must not have any criminal record.
