Wellington Halal Meat Limited are looking for up to 2 butchers to join their team. We are open to employing junior and intermediate butchers who understand fundamentals of butchery and are willing to build on their existing knowledge. If this sounds like you, hit apply now!

We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week over Monday – Saturday.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have at least 2 years butchery experience (as either a butcher, apprentice or butcher’s assistant). Remuneration ranges from $28 - $35 per hour, depending on experience.

The key duties of this role include:

  • Removing bones, trimming fat and cutting, mincing and grinding various meat (beef, chicken and lamb) to shape and size for retail sale.
  • Operating machines such as mincers, bone saws, slicers, sausage makers and vacuum sealers to prepare various meats for retail sale.
  • Making seasonings to be mixed into kebabs, patties, and sausages.
  • Weigh, package, price and display products.
  • Providing advice to customers about cuts of meat.
  • Ensure that all food hygiene and safety standards are met and keep up to date with industry standards.
