On behalf of our client, a well-established and highly respected marine services business in Auckland, we are seeking a Workshop Manager to lead their skilled team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, hands-on leader to take ownership of workshop operations and help drive growth across multiple facilities and mobile service teams.

About the role

As Workshop Manager, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of marine technicians across workshops and mobile service teams.

  • Plan, schedule, and prioritise workshop workloads to meet deadlines efficiently.

  • Ensure high-quality standards across diagnostics, service, repairs, and repower work.

  • Maintain compliance with health & safety standards, workshop tools, and parts inventory.

  • Support recruitment, training, and development of technical staff.

  • Foster a positive, solutions-focused workshop culture.

About you

  • Proven experience managing or supervising a mechanical or marine workshop team, or similar trade environment.

  • Strong technical knowledge of marine engines and systems (diesel and outboards), ideally including Volvo Penta, Yamaha, or Yanmar.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • Hands-on leadership style with a focus on problem-solving, productivity, and team culture.

  • Commitment to workplace health & safety and high-quality service standards.
