Leading Hand – Sheet Metal Tradesman (MIG & TIG)

Location: Otahuhu, Auckland

We are currently seeking an experienced Leading Hand Sheet Metal Tradesman to join a well-established team based in Otahuhu. This is a hands-on role with a strong leadership component, working predominantly on on-site installations across commercial projects.

About the Role

You will be leading a small team on site, overseeing the installation of:

  • Architectural facades
  • Balustrades
  • Handrails


This role suits someone who leads from the front, can read and interpret plans with confidence, and takes pride in quality workmanship.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a site installation team
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and site plans
  • Distribute work and manage daily tasks on site
  • MIG & TIG welding as required
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
  • Liaise with supervisors and project managersAbout You
  • Qualified Sheet Metal Tradesman (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong MIG & TIG welding capability
  • Proven experience in a Leading Hand / senior trades role
  • Experience with architectural metalwork installations
  • Confident reading plans and setting out work
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
