The Furniture Movers Limited is seeking a full-time Transport Company Manager to oversee the operational and administrative functions related to our furniture removal and transport services. The role involves planning, organising, directing, and coordinating transport operations, staff, vehicle utilisation, and customer service delivery.

Key Duties

Transport Operations Management

  • Plan and manage daily transport activities, including scheduling and allocating vehicles, drivers, and offsiders for furniture removal and delivery jobs.
  • Coordinate bookings, route planning, and timelines to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Monitor job progress, vehicle utilisation, and operational workflows.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, safety checks, fuel usage, and compliance with transport regulations.
  • Evaluate operational procedures and implement improvements where required.

Staff Supervision & HR Support

  • Supervise drivers, offsiders, and operational support staff.
  • Prepare rosters and allocate staff based on operational demands.
  • Assist in recruitment, induction, training, and performance monitoring of staff.
  • Ensure compliance with employment, health and safety, and company policies.

Customer and Client Coordination

  • Manage customer bookings, job requirements, timelines, and service-related queries.
  • Respond to escalations and resolve operational issues as they arise.
  • Ensure service delivery meets company standards and client expectations.

Administration & Business Development Support

  • Maintain operational documentation, booking logs, staff records, and compliance paperwork.
  • Assist with quotations, basic cost assessments, and job-related documentation.
  • Identify areas for operational improvement and support the management team in business development activities.
  • Prepare operational reports when required.

Skills and Requirements

  • Relevant qualification (business management, commerce, HR, hospitality or other relevant field), OR at least three years of relevant experience in operations, logistics, dispatch, management, HR etc.
  • Ability to manage transport operations and coordinate staff.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple bookings and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of NZ transport rules, vehicle compliance, and workplace health and safety obligations is an advantage
  • Proficiency in scheduling systems, spreadsheets, and general administrative tools preferred
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.

Employment Conditions

  • A minimum of 30 hours per week, with additional hours as needed to meet operational requirements.
  • Pay range $32.00 – $36.00 per hour depending on experience.
  • Work may include early starts, extended hours, and weekend shifts based on job schedules.
