Key Responsibilities

·         Identify, isolate, remove and transport hazardous materials in compliance with NZ regulations.

·         Carry out asbestos removal, encapsulation and decontamination processes.

·         Operate negative‑pressure units, air monitoring devices, PPE and decontamination units.

·         Establish containment zones and implement control measures on construction sites.

·         Complete site documentation (risk assessments, logs, waste tracking, incident reports).

·         Coordinate with construction teams to ensure safe sequencing.

Skills & Experience

·         Experience in hazardous‑material/asbestos removal and construction environments.

·         Knowledge of SDS and contaminant‑control methods.

·         Physically fit; able to work in PPE, confined spaces and at heights.

·         Strong attention to detail and safety culture; effective communication.

Qualifications (Preferred)

·         Asbestos or hazardous‑substance training/certification (local or international).

·         Construction trade or relevant industry experience.

·         Driver’s licence.

Legal Requirements (New Zealand)

·         Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 — duty to manage risks.

·         Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016 — identification, management plans,            training and health monitoring.

·         WorkSafe licensing: Class A (friable) and/or Class B (non‑friable) licence/s apply

·         WorkSafe ACOP: Management and Removal of Asbestos — mandatory safe‑work expectations.
