We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Technical Sales Representative to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a professional who combines strong technical understanding with proven sales capability and a customer-focused approach. You will be responsible for promoting and selling technical products or solutions while providing expert advice to clients.

Position:Technical Sales Representative
Location: Greater Wellington Region
Job Type: Full Time-30 to 40 hours
Salary: $32 to $38 per hour

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote, market, and sell technical products and services to new and existing customers.

  • Analyse client requirements and recommend suitable technical solutions.

  • Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and detailed proposals.

  • Prepare quotations, sales contracts, and tender documentation.

  • Liaise with engineering, technical, and production teams to ensure accurate product information.

  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions in line with company policies.

  • Maintain long-term client relationships and provide post-sales technical support.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and identify new business opportunities.

  • Maintain accurate sales records, forecasts, and client data using CRM systems.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and company procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.

  • At least 3 years of relevant technical sales or industry experience, which may substitute for the formal qualification.

  • Proven experience in technical sales, B2B sales, or solution-based selling is highly desirable.

  • Industry-specific knowledge (engineering, IT, manufacturing, electronics, construction materials, or industrial equipment) is an advantage.

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to explain complex products clearly.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Customer-focused with a consultative sales approach.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet sales targets.

  • Proficient in preparing technical and commercial documentation.
