On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator. This role plays a key part in shaping commercially successful projects from tender through to completion, with a heavy emphasis on vertical construction and structural concrete and precast elements.

About the role:

  • Lead preparation of accurate, competitive pre-construction estimates and tender submissions for high-rise developments.

  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and pricing for materials, labour, plant and subcontract packages with a focus on concrete and precast works.

  • Manage contract administration throughout the project lifecycle, including progress claims, interim valuations and final accounts.

  • Prepare, review and negotiate variations, claims and cost adjustments with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • Support project teams with commercial reporting, risk and value management, and forecasting to ensure financial targets are met.

  • Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with internal teams, external consultants and subcontract partners.

  • Drive continuous improvement of estimating tools, processes and cost control systems.

About You

  • Senior level experience in quantity surveying / estimating within high-rise, commercial or major structural projects (ideally involving concrete and precast delivery).

  • Have proven ability to prepare and present progress claims, variations and commercial correspondence with clarity and accuracy.

  • Strong understanding of NZ construction methods, materials, and costs, particularly relating to concrete and precast structural works.

  • Excellent interpreting skills for construction drawings, specifications and contract documentation.

  • Numerical, analytical and negotiation skills, with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Effective communicator capable of building rapport across project stakeholders.

  • Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline; a professional membership is a plus.
