Reports to Director  

As a Truck Driver you will be trained in driving and maintaining a truck. Driver will deliver goods to and from warehouses and retail shops or centres. They will be fluent in all laws and regulations  involved with driving a heavy goods vehicle, as well as knowing how to load and unload their truck.  They can also diagnose and fix basic problems that may arise with their vehicle. To keep the truck  and associated equipment clean and tidy and in good working order and follow all applicable traffic  laws. To be part of the on-call roster for after-hours emergency response. 

Key Responsibilities Expected Outcomes 

1. To carryout daily vehicle inspections encompassing mechanical, safety and emergency equipment

2. To ensure Road User Charges (RUC), Registration and COF are up to date 

3. To complete logbook accurately and in a timely manner 

4. To ensure truck is loaded appropriately and materialsrecorded correctly 

5. To ensure all loads are secured appropriately 

6. To ensure all loads comply with height, weight and width specifications 

7. To travel within speed limits at all times having consideration for road conditions, other road users,  weather, cargo, signage, and the environment 

8. To drive in a courteous manner at all times 

9. To report any traffic infringements immediately to your manager 

10. To report any incidents, damage or accidents immediately as per company requirements 

11. To competently care for equipment ensuring truck is kept clean and well-presented Road  maintenance & Construction Activities 

12. To care for plant and equipment at all times, ensuring that they are regularly maintained and kept  clean and tidy

Health & Safety 

1. To ensure H&S systems are in place, and complied with, to manage the safety of all employees,  contractors and public in area of control, in accordance with H&S compliance legislation and internal  H&S protocol. 

2. To ensure any required PPE is always used as required 

3. To ensure all incidents and accidents are reported to the appropriate person with the required  timeframe Quality Assurance 

4. To ensure the Company’s policies and procedures are always followed. 

5. To complete assigned tasks to a high standard, in a practical time frame and in a cost-effective  manner 

6. To take responsibility for the tasks as allocated by the Site Supervisor and Project Supervisor

7. To always maintain confidentiality in connection with any work carried out 

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

1. Valid Driver’s license -Overseas is acceptable 

2. Able to competently operate truck and trailer combinations. 

3. Experience of identifying health, safety and environmental risks 

4. Good knowledge of road rules and a safe driving record  

5. Physically fit and able to repeatedly lift and move parcels up to approx. 25kg 

6. Basic English – able to read addresses and instructions and communicate with customers and  dispatch  

7. Good time-management and reliability – able to follow routes and meet delivery timeframes.  

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES 

1. Knowledge of how to operate heavy trucks and machinery 

2. Ability to communicate in a clear and positive way at all levels 

3. Knowledge of civil and roading construction methods 

5. Willingness to be a team player, participate and contribute to a changing team environment

6. Ability to maintain stable performance and attitude in high pressure situations 

Hours and pay  

• Guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week (full-time), typically 35–45 hours per week  depending on workload  

Rostered across Monday to Saturday, early morning starts may be required 

• Hourly rate $25.00 to $33.00 per hour per hour, depending on skills and experience\
