Aotearoa Art Academy is a private training establishment that primarily provides training for young art enthusiasts. We are now seeking a Music Teacher to deliver high-quality music instruction on both theoretical knowledge and practical performance skills to individual students and small groups. This is a full-time position with a minimum workload of 30 hours per week.

The main tasks include:

  • Planning and delivering structured programs of study for individual students and small groups
  • Preparing and presenting teaching materials covering music theory and related subject knowledge
  • Instructing and demonstrating practical techniques relevant to the student’s instrument or vocal training
  • Assigning exercises and practice tasks appropriate to each student’s training needs and musical ability
  • Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback, guidance, and encouragement
  • Revising lesson content, teaching materials, and instructional methods to support effective learning outcomes
  • Preparing students for examinations, performances, auditions, and other assessments
  • Maintaining professional knowledge by keeping up to date with developments in music education and performance through professional learning and peer engagement
  • Organising or supporting student performances, recitals, or showcases where appropriate

 

Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music, Music Performance, or a closely related field.
  • At least five years of relevant professional music teaching or performance experience may be accepted in place of a formal qualification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A sound understanding of music theory and practical performance at secondary school level or above.
  • A genuine passion for music education, with patience and commitment to supporting students’ musical development.
