Butcher

We are a busy butcher shop in South Auckland seeking two full-time Butchers to join
our team and support the day-to-day operations of our store.

Hours of Work: 

• Shop operating hours: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm, Monday to Wednesday and Friday,
• 7:00 am - 7:00 pm for Thursday and 7:00 am - 4:00 pm during weekend.
• You will work on a rostered shift basis within these hours.
• We are open most public holidays (except Christmas and Easter), so you must
  also be available during peak public holiday trading like Christmas Eve.
• Guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week, up to 40 hours depending on
  business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cutting, boning, trimming, slicing, and preparing meat for retail sale and customer
  orders.
• Operating and maintaining butchery equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  Preparing, weighing, wrapping, packaging, and labelling meat products
  accurately.
• Monitoring and rotating stock to maintain quality, freshness, and compliance with
  food safety standards.
• Assisting with ordering and stock control, including participating in stock counts.
• Ensuring all work practices comply with hygiene, sanitation, and food safety
  regulations.
• Cleaning and maintaining work areas, equipment, and storage facilities to ensure
  a safe and hygienic environment.
• Assisting with general shop duties such as opening and closing procedures when
  rostered.

Qualifications & Experience:

• While we prefer candidates with at least 3 years of butchery experience, we will
  also consider applicants who have at least 2 years’ relevant experience working
  as a Butcher, Meat Process Worker or Butcher’s Assistant in either a small retail business or a factorybased environment, or
• A relevant level 4 qualification
• Sound knowledge of different meat cuts and preparation methods.
• Strong focus on food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work in cold environments and handle heavy lifting.
• Good time management and communication skills.
• Reliability and a strong work ethic are essential.

Pay & Benefits:

• $25– $38.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
• Supportive team environment in a busy local butcher shop.
