We are looking for four skilled vehicle refinishers, to join our team here at Detail King, in Christchurch. This is a fulltime role, and we offer pay from 27.00 - 32.00, depending on experience. You will be working with a skilled team of specalists in the automotive industry, so an interest in this area is a must! If this sounds like you, then read on!

The tasks that you will be required to complete are: 

  • removing rough spots on vehicle panels
  • sanding surfaces by hand and with power sanders
  • masking areas not to be wrapped with masking tape
  • colour matching and mixing paints to match paint shades, and selecting pre-mixed paint
  • colour matching film to painted parts of the car, and matching film and repairing film that has faded with new film.
  • Selecting wrapping film to apply to vehicles, in accordance with surface condition, customer requirements, and future useage. 
  • applying various chemicals and solutions to body surfaces before wrapping / tinting of vehicles
  • touching up wrapwork and applying polish to vehicles
  • removing masking papers, and waxing and polishing finished paintwork and wrapping film
  • removing wrapping film in an appropriate manner, and surface treating areas previously covered by wrapping film. 
  • detailing and creating signs and artwork on vehicles with wrapping film, and occasionally with paint. 
  • treating vehicles with rust-proofing chemicals

 

You will need to have: 

  • At least two years of experience, or a relevant qualification at level 4 or higher on the NZQA
  • A can do attitutde, and the ability to take charge and use one's initiative. 
  • The ability to provide a clean drug test and clean Ministry of Justice convictions check prior to employment.
