Full time permanent Welder/Fabricator requires for our busy company. The minimum work will be 36 hours pw and maximum will be 50 hours pw. There will be one and half overtime payment. The minimum wage is $30.00 ph and maximum wages will be $35.00ph. Candidate should pass a background check and be physically fit. New Zealand citizen or resident will be getting extra credit.  

Responsibilities

  1. Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
  2. Experience in TIG/MiG/Arc welding
  3. Strong ability to read plans/drawings
  4. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  5. Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
  6. Must follow all safety policies and wear PPE 
  7. Must be able to read and interpret welding symbols, plans, blueprints and sketches. Previous welding experience (TIG/MiG/Arc welding)
  8. Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  9. Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
  10. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  11. Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
  12. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
  13. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  14. Must be able to position, align, fit and weld parts to form complete units or subunits by following blueprints and layout specifications using jigs, welding equipment and hand tools to ensure it meets measurements and specifications outlined in drawings
  15. Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
  16. Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
  17. Assembling, installing and repairing pipe components and systems according to specifications.
  18. Working knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standard

Required ability

  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.)
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings

 Skills Requires: 

  • 2 years of fabricating and welding experience which can include the completion of a welders training program from an accredited institution.
  • Proven experience as welder
