We are looking for an experienced Milling Engineering Team Lead to join the Christchurch Engineering team on a permanent full-time basis. 

The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for the Engineering performance of the plant and provide technical leadership for the Christchurch site by leading a team of 3 Engineering staff.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, coordinate and manage all the activities related to plant maintenance, turnaround, capital expenditure programme for plant maintenance to meet the site’s business objectives

  • Installing and performing diagnostic tests on plant mechanical systems 

  • Creating sketches and preliminary layouts for plant improvements and ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations, and contract provisions. 

  • Carrying out a range of mechanical tests and analyses of machines, components, and materials

  • Project management experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage spare part management, annual maintenance budget and CAPEX planning

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret project plans for the purposes of estimating time and costs. 

  • Organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant 

  • Propose technological and efficiency improvements to site operations. 

 To be successful in your application, you will have:

  • At least 5 years of Engineering experience, preferably Electrical Engineering  

  • Operations Management

  • Endorsed EWRB qualified preferred or studying towards

  • CMMS experience required

  • Recognised Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is advantageous

  • Proficient in MS office suite including D365 (advantageous) 

  • Ability to create and modify CAD drawings of mill layouts, equipment components and flow sheets. 

  • Strong interpersonal and analytical problem-solving skills 

  • Sound food industry knowledge 

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and teach others milling machinery mechanics, operation and maintenance

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.

  • Ability to collaborate with the Technical Milling team and other key stakeholders

  • Proven ability to read, analyse and interpret technical data derived from business periodicals and technical papers. 

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that involves exposure to dust, long periods of standing, ability to climb ladders and stairs, bend and move to inspect equipment.

Hours of work: This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday – Friday, 08h00 – 17h00, 40 hours per week. 

Salary range:  $95,000.00 -$105,000 p/annum depending on experience and skills
