We are looking for an experienced Head Miller to join the Mt Maunganui Milling team on a permanent full-time basis.

The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for the technical performance of milling and provide technical leadership for the Mount Maunganui site. The role is to provide technical leadership however, will also be responsible for improving mill yield and quality performance. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure maximum yield is achieved along with highest throughput, while always achieving in spec product, right first time (RFT) and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  •  Propose technological and efficiency improvements to site operations.
  • Contribute to a strategically developed capital plan.
  • To develop an operator’s training curriculum with a schedule that covers milling operators. All milling operators are to have a personalised training schedule with a view to develop a culture where all operators are to be provided a career path to at least be a shift miller or preferably a milling supervisor.
  • Improve the management of grain grist’s with a view to reducing the overall cost of grain blends. Must work hand in hand with grain procurement team and ensure the best draw down plan is developed and implemented.
  • Assist and manage the operational implementation of Quality Management systems, Food safety systems and Occupational health and safety systems.

 

 To be successful in your application, you will have:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of commercial milling experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years in a supervisory/technical milling role, ideally having managed multiple milling sites at a national level
  • Operations Management or Graduate from an internationally recognised milling school (Preferred)
  • National Association of British & Irish Millers (NABIM) qualification
  • Recognised Diploma (or similar) in either Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related Food Science field. 
  • Sound food industry knowledge
  • Proven track record in the ability to troubleshoot existing mill flows for the purpose of optimisation.
  • Ability to create and modify CAD drawings of mill layouts, equipment components and flow sheets.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and teach others milling machinery mechanics, operation and maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with Technical Milling and Engineering department
  • Proven ability to read, analyse and interpret technical data derived from business periodicals and technical papers.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that involves exposure to dust, long periods of standing, ability to climb ladders and stairs, bend and move to inspect equipment.

Hours of work: This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday – Friday, 08h00 – 17h00. 

Salary range:  $90,000.00 -$105,000 p/annum depending on experience and skills
