We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Assistant Dairy Herd Manager to join our team in Huntly.

This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for an experienced dairy professional to develop their career in a supportive, modern farm environment.

Key Responsibilities

·         Assist the Herd Manager in daily dairy operations, including milking and feeding routines

·         Supervise milking operations and maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the dairy shed

·         Implement routine maintenance schedules for the milking plant and farm equipment as directed

·         Support animal health management, including monitoring, recording treatments, and assisting with calving and mating programs

·         Help manage feed, pasture, and supplement schedules to meet herd nutritional requirements

·         Train and mentor junior staff under the guidance of the Herd Manager

·         Operate farm vehicles and equipment safely according to farm policy

·         Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and biosecurity procedures under supervision

·         Promote Health, Safety, and Wellbeing standards in daily operation.




 

Skills and Attributes

• Relevant Level 4 qualification or a minimum of two years’ experience in dairy farming
• Strong knowledge of dairy herd management, animal health, and welfare
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual farm duties
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow farm procedures and instructions
• Proven ability to supervise staff and work effectively as part of a team
• Excellent communication and reporting skills
