We are looking for two motivated and professional Hairdressers to join our friendly salon team in Thames. These are hands-on roles providing quality hair services and an excellent client experience in a busy salon environment.

Guaranteed hours: Minimum 30 hours per week (rostered, including evenings and weekends as required)
Pay: $25 - $30 per hour

About the role

We are looking for two motivated and professional Hairdressers to join our friendly salon team in Thames. These are hands-on roles providing quality hair services and an excellent client experience in a busy salon environment.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide professional client consultations, prepare service recommendations and quotes, and deliver high-quality hairdressing services.

  • Confidently perform a full range of barbering and hairdressing techniques, including cuts (short, medium and long hair using scissors and clippers), specialist men’s cuts (fades, flat tops, buzz cuts and tidy-ups), colouring (foils, highlights, balayage, fashion colouring and bleaching), perming, chemical straightening, and styling/finishing to a professional standard.

  • Provide full and partial shaves and beard/grooming services using clippers and razors (including straight razor where trained and in line with salon procedures).

  • Recommend retail products for home hair care and support retail sales.

  • Manage client bookings, front desk support and cash/POS transactions, and open and close the salon as rostered.

  • Maintain a clean, hygienic and professional environment by sanitising tools, equipment and workstations and following health and safety requirements.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, techniques and product knowledge, and build strong client relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.

Minimum requirements

You must have ONE of the following:

  • A New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 4) or equivalent, or

  • At least 2 years’ relevant work experience.

 

You must also have:

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

  • Good attention to detail and pride in quality work.

  • Reliability, professional presentation, and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Experience with men’s haircuts and other barbering techniques
