Machinery Operator – Kiwifruit Contracting (2 Positions Available)
Location: Bay of Plenty

Veera Enterprises is a kiwifruit contracting company based in the Bay of Plenty. We offer a full range of services aimed at optimising productivity and maximising returns for our growers.

We currently have two Machinery Operator positions available and are seeking motivated, hardworking individuals who enjoy hands-on work and are committed to building a career in the horticulture industry.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Operate mowers, mulchers, sprayers, and tractors

·         Understand the impact of weather conditions on spraying activities

·         Carry out spraying requirements for kiwifruit orchards

·         Perform general kiwifruit orchard maintenance

·         Follow all health and safety procedures to protect yourself and others

·         Perform routine machinery maintenance (oil changes, tyre rotations, replacing filters)

·         Operate tractors to move supplies and materials

·         Operate tractors with implements for field operations such as tilling, seeding, cultivating, and applying chemicals

·         Assist with harvesting operations

·         Trimming across all field operation crops

·         Fungicide spraying – safe use and application of agrichemicals as directed, including mixing chemicals and maintaining spray diary records

·         Mechanical weeding across all crops

·         Weed spraying across company blocks, boundaries, fence lines, drains, and buildings

·         Remain alert while operating machinery and maintain appropriate speed limits

·         Ensure machinery is kept clean, tidy, and in good working condition

·         Assist the Admin Officer in ensuring insurance and registration are kept up to date

·         Report any faults or concerns to the Orchard Manager

Skills and Experience Required:

·         Minimum 3 years of relevant machinery operating experience (required)

·         Ability to work independently

·         Ability to follow instructions

·         Good problem-solving skills and a positive attitude

·         Strong time management and organisational skills

·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills

·         Good understanding of safe work practices

·         Good level of physical fitness

·         Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends when required, and night shifts during the main packing season (March–June)

What We Offer:

·         Competitive hourly rate based on skills and experience

·         Hourly rate between $30 – $32 per hour
