Experienced Plasterer Wanted

Location: Auckland region
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours of Work: Minimum 30 hours per week
Pay Rate: $27 – $35 per hour

RSW Wall & Ceiling Experts Limited was established in 2018, our Auckland-based plastering company has built a strong reputation for delivering reliable, high-quality interior plastering services across residential and commercial projects. With a steady pipeline of work and long-standing relationships with builders and homeowners, we pride ourselves on workmanship, efficiency, and professional service.

Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking multiple experienced and motivated Plasterers to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation work

•        Measuring the space (ceilings and walls) to be plastered

•        Preparing the area to ensure the work can be carried out effectively and safely

•        Preparing plasterboard and determining the sizes required and the layout required in accordance with the plans 

Installation work

•        Installing plasterboard to walls, ceilings and battens in accordance with the plans

•        Fitting corner beads to secure the plasterboard

•        Clearing and preparing surfaces of installed plasterboard for plastering

•        Mixing plaster and applying this onto the plasterboard surface

•        Smoothing the plaster applied to the plasterboard surface with a trowel

•        Completing plastering work with trowel and/or sanding finishers ready for painting

•        Installing insulation 

Maintenance work

Carry out existing plaster maintenance and repairs by:

•        Patching old or damaged plaster

•        Removing loose existing plaster

•        Cutting out cracks, holes and damaged plasterboard and installing new plasterboard and applying new plaster

•        Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure required workmanship standards are met 

Work tools

•        All tools are to be used in a proper manner

•        Ensure that tools are cleaned after use and put away safely

•        Ensure to follow the proper maintenance procedure for all tools provided

Successfully candidates must:

•        Have at least one year of verifiable full-time work experience in plastering or the construction industry; OR

•        Hold a relevant NZQF Level 4 (or higher) qualification in Construction or a closely related field; OR

•        Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in any field, demonstrating strong transferable skills including analytical thinking, problem-solving, effective communication, time management, teamwork, adaptability, professionalism, and accountability.

Work and Personal Attributes we are looking for:

•         Good knowledge of plastering techniques, materials, and tools
•         Ability to install, stop, skim, and finish plasterboard to a high standard
•         Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
•         Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications
•         Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
•         Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
•         Efficient time management and ability to meet deadlines
•         Physically fit and capable of repetitive manual handling tasks
•         Reliable and punctual
•         Team player with good communication skills
•         Adaptable and willing to learn new techniques
•         Accountability and ability to follow instructions
•         A valid full driver licence and the ability to drive safely are preferred, as the role may require travel between different work sites.
