Heavy Diesel Mechanic

The company is seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join its team in the Auckland region. The ideal candidate must be skilled in repairing heavy diesel vehicles, safety-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or in a team.

Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and heavy vehicles.
• Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and safety checks to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with regulations.
• Dismantle and reassemble engines and components, replacing or repairing parts as required.
• Test and adjust mechanical systems after repairs to ensure proper operation.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults and perform necessary adjustments.
• Conduct emergency repairs as needed to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Maintain accurate service records and repair logs in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Advise management on vehicle condition, repair priorities, and replacement needs.
• Ensure the working area and tools are maintained in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.

The candidate will be required to work at least 30 hours per week and will be paid between $35 and $45 per hour, subject to skills and requirements.

Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience or at least a relevant Level 4 qualification.
• Must be available to work on weekends as required.
• Physically fit to perform the required tasks and duties.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Reliable, proactive, and hardworking.
