Nursery Person

R&R 13 Limited, operating in horticultural services, is seeking a Nursery Person to join our team in Buckland, Waikato. This role is ideal for a reliable, diligent, and detail-oriented individual with a genuine passion for horticulture.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide regular updates to management on plantation development and anticipated yields.
• Assist in planning and executing strategies for soil testing, fertilization, and overall crop maintenance.
• Ensure optimal plant health and quality through attentive care and monitoring.
• Perform tasks such as disinfecting, sorting, and packaging produce for storage and shipment.
• Inspect plants for signs of pests or diseases and maintain accurate records.
• Manage water supply for growing systems or tanks.
• Keep detailed records of plant growth to support multiple production cycles per year.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Supervise and schedule fertilizer applications according to planned programs.
• Monitor planting and ordering plans to ensure adherence to schedules.
• Oversee pesticide application when necessary.
• Assist with procurement of tools and equipment with management approval.
• Stay informed about emerging horticultural techniques, practices, and products.
• Maintain cleanliness, security, and proper upkeep of all property and assets.
• Keep work areas and grounds tidy, including landscaping tasks.
• Operate machinery, such as tractor-powered rotary hoes, for soil preparation prior to planting as and when required.

The candidate will be required to work at least 30 hours per week and be paid between $25 and $30 per hour.

Other Requirements:
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience or at least a relevant Level-4 qualification.
• Physically fit to perform the various tasks required by the role.
• Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
• Reliable and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain consistent horticultural standards.
• Comfortable working in various weather conditions outdoors and in the greenhouse.
