We are HR NEWZEALAND LIMITED T/A JIMS MOWING, a lawn mowing company operating in Auckland. The majority of our sites are within Auckland, covering commercial and residential areas.

We are seeking two energetic Gardeners to join our company.

This is a full-time, permanent role with a Minimum of 30 hours a week and can be extended during busy Periods. The suitable candidate will be offered a pay rate of $27 to $30 per hour. 

Job Duties you will perform:

  • Prepare garden sites and plots using hand tools and machines. This includes using the Looping tool, used to trim tall trees.
  • Require preparing and maintaining seedbeds and growing sites.
  • Propagating and planting trees, bushes, hedges, flowers and bulbs; preparing lawn areas by spreading topsoil and planting grass, and by laying instant turf
  • maintaining planted and grassed areas by weeding, trimming, fertilising, watering  and mowing
  • Pruning shrubs & small bushes based on the climate
  • Assist clients in cultivating and maintaining gardens by recommending good structures for softscape that are in trend right now and meet the requirements of clients, followed by setting out and installing softscape
  • preparing plans and drawings, selecting materials and plants, and scheduling landscape construction specially for softscape
  • spraying plants & weeds, and trees to control insects and disease
  • Examining trees to assess their condition and determine treatment
  • lopping limbs off trees and shaping branches using chainsaws and handsaws

What we expect from you:

  • Be physically fit - heavy lifting (25kgs) will be involved.
  • A Valid International / New Zealand Driving License is required to drive a company car in New Zealand to travel between sites.
  • Must be able to drive the company's Manual Car.
  • Must not have any serious driving convictions.
  • 2- 3 Years of relevant work experience as a Gardener OR a NZQF level 4 Qualification can substitute for the work Experience requirement, as detailed training will be provided.
  • Not afraid of a little sun, wind or rain! (PPE provided).
  • No experience is necessary - all training can be given.
  • Honest and Reliable & a good team player.
  • Must be drug-free. We have regular drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment tests.
  • Able to start early morning & finish late evening in busy periods.
  • Able to work on weekends and public holidays, as many of our clients prefer.
  • Able to communicate with customers.
