Role Summary

The Crop production manager is responsible for the cultivation, harvesting, grading, and packing of high-quality vegetable crops, as well as maintaining the overall operation of the market garden. The role includes assisting with planning, coordinating, and carrying out crop production and harvesting programs in line with seasonal and market requirements.

 

  • Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed. 

Applicants must have the following as per employer’s requirement:  

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Must be physically fit and capable of performing manual outdoor work.
  • Previous experience in horticulture, agriculture, or vegetable production preferred
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Must provide a CV Must provide verifiable references of previous employment history 
  • Must have right to work in NZ/be NZ resident/Citizen
  • Must have a driver Licence

Responsibilities:

  • Operate machinery such as tractors, conveyors, and forklifts.
  • Perform general farm and garden maintenance. 
  • Manage irrigation systems and undertake weeding as required.
  • Monitor the quality of products & assist with dispatch operations.
  • Carry out planting, harvesting, grading, packaging and storage of vegetables.
  • Assist with scheduling and monitoring planting programs, crop rotations and soil management practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, inputs and quality checks.
  • Fulfill employee representative responsibilities as outlined by company policy

  • Meet customer and company quality requirements for produce.

  • Handle produce with care to maintain product quality.
