The Opportunity:
This is a rare and genuinely exciting opportunity for a commercially and technically capable Market Growth Manager, who thrives on building new solutions and successfully bringing them to market.
At its core, the role is focused on identifying, shaping, and commercializing new product offerings across emerging market segments in the New Zealand energy market. You will develop solutions that deepen customer relationships, increase share of wallet, and address real, unmet customer challenges, ultimately unlocking new, scalable revenue streams for the business.
Operating across customers, strategy, product, sales and delivery, you will work closely with both existing and prospective customers to gain a deep understanding of their needs and pain points. In collaboration with internal product and delivery teams, you will translate this insight into compelling, value-adding solutions, that are commercially and operationally viable.
This is not a traditional sales role. It is a market growth role, which blends technical capability with strong business development, market analysis, solution design, and commercial execution. You will lead opportunities from concept and proof-of-concept through to testing, validation, and full market rollout, ensuring successful solutions are scalable, repeatable, and commercially viable.
Based in Newmarket, the organisation is seeking a hands-on, outcome-driven operator with strong sales credibility. Someone who is comfortable engaging customers, influencing stakeholders, and working cross-functionally within a fast-moving, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Identify and develop new growth opportunities, within defined market segments

Conduct market and competitive analysis to prioritise opportunities and inform strategy

Develop and execute strategic business plans aligned to market needs and company objectives

Engage customers to understand their challenges, requirements, and value drivers

Design and shape new solution concepts that address customer and market needs

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, product development, operations) and a range of external partners to enable delivery.

Develop solution prototypes, run trials, and prove value and scalability through pilots and POCs.

Develop scalable systems and processes to enable expansion and broader market adoption.

Drive sales initiatives to achieve revenue targets, including developing sales pitches and presentations.

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders

Negotiate and close deals, which managing objections and commercial risk.

Track performance against KPIs, reporting insights and outcomes to senior leadership.

Identify opportunities to expand offerings within existing segments and into adjacent markets

Represent the business at industry events and conferences to continue to strengthen market presence
About You:
You are a commercially astute, solutions-led business development manager, with the technical understanding to engage confidently with product and delivery teams. You enjoy working at the forefront of new ideas, engaging customers, shaping solutions, and working internally to turn opportunity into scalable commercial outcomes.
You will bring:

10+ years’ experience driving business growth, developing new markets, and delivering revenue outcomes.

Energy industry experience is advantageous, but not essential.

Strong sales credibility, with proven ability to negotiate, close, and grow complex solution-based opportunities.

A strategic, yet hands-on mindset. Able to think big, while also executing and delivering results.

High levels of commercial and financial acumen, with experience building and evaluating business cases.

Experience leading initiatives from concept through delivery, including pilots, trials, or complex commercial projects.

A customer-first, consultative approach with the ability to uncover unmet needs and translate them into value.

Experience working cross-functionally with product, marketing, operations, and delivery teams

Confidence operating in ambiguous, evolving environments where not everything is defined.

A creative, resilient, and outcome-focused approach to problem-solving.

Degree qualified in Business, Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
