Job Summary

Floor Layers lay, repair, and finish a variety of floor coverings in commercial, industrial,
and residential buildings. These materials include carpet, vinyl, timber, tiles, and other
resilient floor coverings.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspecting the surface to determine the type of flooring and any preparation required.
• Preparing surfaces by removing old flooring, filling holes, and smoothing subfloors.
• Cutting, measuring, and fitting floor coverings to the desired specifications.
• Laying flooring materials such as timber, vinyl, carpet, tiles, or laminate.
• Installing underlays for specific flooring types.
• Securing flooring materials using adhesives, nails, or other appropriate methods.
• Trimming and finishing edges and seams to ensure a professional appearance.
• Repairing or replacing damaged flooring.
• Maintaining tools and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Job requirement: applicant must meet following requirement to apply for this job

• Relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification,
• At least three years of working experience in relevant industry
• Knowledge of flooring materials and installation techniques.
• Precision and attention to detail for cutting and fitting.
• Ability to interpret floor plans and layouts.
• Physical strength and fitness to handle materials and tools.
• Good communication skills for client interaction.
