VABS Ltd is seeking a skilled mechanical service engineer to join our Waikato team. This is a field-based role servicing industrial vacuum pumps and low-pressure blower systems at client sites across the Waikato and occasionally wider North Island regions.

You will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, overhauling, installing and commissioning industrial rotating equipment. Travel within the North Island is required occasionally.

Key Responsibilities

·       Service and overhaul industrial vacuum pumps and blower systems

·       Diagnose mechanical faults and perform corrective repairs

·       Disassemble and rebuild rotating equipment, including bearings, seals and shafts

·       Interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings

·       Conduct performance checks and commissioning support

·       Complete service reports and maintenance documentation

·       Work safely within industrial site permit and isolation systems

·       Liaise directly with customers on-site

Skills & Experience Required

Applicants must:

·       Have a mechanical or engineering tertiary qualification or three years of relevant work experience.

·       Experience servicing industrial mechanical equipment

·       Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding ability

·       Knowledge of rotating machinery (vacuum pumps, blowers or similar preferred)

·       Understanding of health and safety procedures in industrial environments

·       Good communication and problem-solving skills

·       Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, service reporting apps)

·       Clean full NZ driver’s licence

Basic electrical knowledge is advantageous but not essential.

Physical Requirements

·       Able to perform hands-on mechanical work

·       Capable of lifting components up to 20kg

·       Comfortable working in industrial processing environments
