Love Berries Limited is looking for a experienced Tractor and Forklift Driver for its business
located in Matangi, Hamilton. We operate from two sites. We grow a variety of seasonal
fruit and vegetables which are then sold to the local and international markets.
This is a permanent full-time position working a minimum of 32 hours per week. Pay rate is
$30-34 per hour depending on prior experience and/or qualifications.
You must be available to work a range of hours including weekend work as our business is
also weather dependent. You must be able to travel from one site to the other
independently. We maintain our own cool storage unit. Some knowledge of crop production will be of benefit.
The Tractor & Forklift Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of agricultural machinery and material handling equipment to support farm production, harvesting, and logistics operations. This role requires technical knowledge of machinery operation, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in accordance with seasonal production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Tractor & Agricultural Machinery Operation
Operate tractors and a range of agricultural machinery including ploughs, cultivators,
seed drills, balers, harvesters, and sprayers.
Operate forklift safely to load, unload, stack, and transport agricultural produce,
supplies, fertilisers, and equipment.
Prepare land for planting through ploughing, levelling, cultivating, fertilising, and
irrigation preparation.
Load harvested crops onto trucks or into storage facilities.
Move pallets, bins, crates, and bulk materials within farm or warehouse
environments.
Assist with sowing, planting, spraying, fertilising, and harvesting crops.
Attach, adjust, calibrate and maintain tractor implements and hydraulic systems.
Monitor machinery performance and conduct routine servicing and preventative
maintenance.
Identify and report mechanical faults; carry out minor repairs where appropriate.
Maintain records of equipment usage and maintenance schedules.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
Comply with all workplace health and safety policies.
Conduct pre-operational safety inspections of tractors, forklifts, and implements.
Follow hazardous substances procedures when handling fertilisers and chemicals.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
Skills and Experience Required
Minimum 3 years relevant experience operating agricultural machinery and forklifts
Valid Forklift Operator certification (F endorsement where required).
Demonstrated experience operating tractors and heavy equipment independently.
Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Understanding of safe materials handling procedures.
Knowledge of farm production cycles and seasonal operations.
As you are handling heavy machinery a clear drug and alcohol test may be
requested.
