Job Details:

Location: Bay of Plenty (site-based across orchards in the region as required) 

Employment Type: Full-time, permanent 

Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week (typically 40 hours per week; seasonal peak work may require  extra hours) 

Pay Rate: NZD $28.00 – $35.00 per hour (depending on skills and experience) Number of Positions: 1 

Reports To: Owner  

Purpose of the role 

To supervise day-to-day orchard operations and lead orchard teams to achieve productivity, quality,  and compliance outcomes. This position supports business growth by ensuring orchard work  programmes are delivered on time, to standard, and safely across the season. 

Key Responsibilities  

The Orchard Supervisor will: 

• Plan and supervise daily orchard activities (e.g., pruning, thinning, training, canopy  management, weed control, irrigation support, and harvest preparation) according to seasonal  work plans and orchard standards. 

• Lead and supervise orchard workers and contractors, including allocating tasks, monitoring  performance, and ensuring work quality targets are met. 

• Maintain quality and productivity outcomes, identify issues early, and implement corrective  actions to maintain orchard performance. 

• Health & Safety leadership, including toolbox talks, hazard identification, PPE compliance,  incident reporting, and ensuring safe work procedures are followed. 

• Operational reporting and record-keeping, including timesheets, productivity reporting, site  records, and coordination logs (and other compliance records as required by the  business/client). 

• Equipment and resource coordination, ensuring tools and equipment are used correctly, fit  for purpose, and issues are reported for maintenance/repair. 

• Stakeholder communication, liaising with orchard owners/clients/packhouse contacts  (where required) and updating the employer on progress, staffing, and operational needs. 

Applicants must meet ONE of the following: 

• Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in any field, OR 

• Experience: At least 2 years’ relevant  

In addition, applicants must have: 

• Strong communication and team leadership skills. 

• Ability to work in a hands-on environment and meet seasonal deadlines. 

• Sound understanding of health & safety expectations in a worksite environment.

Other Conditions 

• The role is genuine and full-time with at least 30 hours/week. 

• Pay will be $28–$35/hr, aligned to skills/experience  

• The employee will receive all minimum entitlements under NZ employment law.
