We operate kiwifruit business in the Te Puke region and requires Fruit Production Supervisors to coordinate daily activities, manage seasonal programmes, and lead orchard teams. Also requires a Training & Development Officer to train staff, improve performance standards, and ensure workers follow correct kiwifruit horticulture methods and safety procedures.

Position Title: Fruit Production Supervisor
Number of Positions: 4
Location: Bay of Plenty
Pay Rate: $28 – $35 per hour
Hours of Work: 30 – 40 hours per week

Key Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience or Level 4 Qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily orchard operations including pruning, thinning, canopy work, and vine training.
  • Monitor vine health, irrigation, pest and disease pressures, and crop load.
  • Allocate tasks and manage teams of orchard workers and seasonal staff.
  • Train staff in kiwifruit horticulture techniques and safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with orchard health & safety requirements.
  • Oversee safe use and basic maintenance of orchard tools and equipment.
  • Maintain daily logs, productivity records, and orchard documentation.
  • Conduct quality checks to protect fruit grade and seasonal outcomes.
  • Liaise with management regarding orchard progress and resource needs.
  • Support harvest preparation and readiness activities.

  • Develop and deliver training for workers on kiwifruit tasks.
  • Train new employees in safety, tool handling, and work procedures.
  • Monitor work quality and provide corrective coaching and performance feedback.
  • Maintain training records, competency registers, and assessment documentation.
  • Conduct onsite demonstrations and practical skills sessions.
  • Support supervisors with team skill development and upskilling needs.
  • Ensure workers follow orchard safety rules, PPE usage, and hazard controls.
  • Assist with induction programmes, job‑specific training, and seasonal readiness.
  • Identify training gaps and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with management regarding training outcomes and staff development needs.
