Galt’s Supermarket Limited trading as Pak'nSave is seeking 1x permanent Checkout Assistant Manager (2IC) to join their team in Kilbirnie.
The primary role of the Checkout Assistant Manager (2IC) is to support the Checkout Manager in ensuring that all stock leaving the store has been correctly paid for, and that all cash and stock are handled accurately and efficiently. The role also ensures compliance with liquor licensing requirements, contributing to a smooth and professional checkout process that delivers an exceptional final shopping experience for all customers.
Key job duties include:
· Act as duty manager and ensure compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012
· Handle customer enquiries and complaints appropriately and ensure effective interactions with customers at all times.
· Ensure speedy resolution of price enquiry and other queries through effective liaison with all departments.
· Ensure appropriate escalation of price scanning errors.
· Return customer complaint forms to the appropriate department.
· Complete trax forms and wages sheets.
· Monitor impulse bars and fridges and ensure stock is correctly ticketed and priced. Also monitor stationery and bag levels to ensure sufficient levels are maintained. Ensure all checkout stock and equipment (e.g., checkout bags) required is sourced through approved suppliers.
· Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed and ensure floats are accurate and reordered from the bank as required.
· Ensure the checkout area is kept clean and tidy and all trolleys, baskets and credits are cleared away regularly to avoid clutter or potential hazards being created.
· Assist in minimizing store costs.
· Managing credits and returns in a timely and tidy fashion to minimize waste and reduce loss.
· Reinforcing and appropriately implementing the businesses returns policy in all appropriate transactions.
· Maintaining security of the front end to ensure all products that leave the store are paid for.
· Ensure all appropriate signage is displayed correctly and that all promotional material is changed over as required.
· Assist with the management of the customer service desk.
· Enhance the reputation of the business by promoting and encouraging ‘best practice’ levels of customer service.
· Assist in managing the front of store / checkouts component of assigned activities, promotions and initiatives within plan, budget and resource deployment delegations.
· Assist in effectively managing the team in the department:
o Ensure supervisors are keeping on top of customer flow and appropriate numbers of checkouts are open at all times.
o Manage the trolley personnel to ensure trolleys are available to customers at all times.
o Train supervisors and new checkout operators as required.
o Assist in recruitment of all team members into the department as required.
o Train the team members as required.
o Guide all identified department members through identified training to achieve desired standards of performance.
o Support the employees in the department involved in specific programs / courses e.g., Management Development.
o Roster to ensure adequate staff at all times, keeping in line with wage percentage targets. Plan ahead for holidays.
o Assist in managing the department staff effectively through adherence to appropriate in-store policies and procedures and by setting a personal example of expected store behaviours.
We guarantee a minimum of 40 hours work per week. The successful applicant must be available on at least one weekend day and public holidays.
Remuneration ranges from $30-$34 per hour. To be successful in this role, you must have:
· One-year relevant supervisory experience
· Your LCQ and current Manager’s Certificate (Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012)
