Location: Whakatāne, Bay of Plenty (with travel to client sites as required) 

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time 

Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week (generally 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday; occasional weekend/on-call  work may be required) 

Pay Rate: $30.00 – $38.00 per hour (depending on skills and experience) 

About the role 

MNM Communication Limited is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to support installation,  commissioning, servicing, and fault diagnosis of telecommunications and data network systems across  residential and commercial sites. This is a hands-on technical role requiring good problem-solving ability, safe  work practices, and strong customer service. 

Key responsibilities 

• Install, test, commission and maintain telecommunications cabling and equipment (copper/fibre/data  as applicable). 

• Diagnose and repair faults on telecom and network systems, using appropriate test equipment and  tools. 

• Read and interpret plans, schematics and job specifications; complete work to required standards. 

• Configure and support network/telecom equipment (e.g., routers, switches, modems, termination  hardware) where required. 

• Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements and site rules, complete hazard checks and  documentation. 

• Maintain accurate job records, service reports, and materials usage notes. 

• Communicate professionally with customers and team members and provide basic user guidance  when needed. 

Skills and experience required 

• Either a NZ Level 4 qualification (or higher) OR at least 2 years’ relevant industry experience as a  telecommunications/data technician. 

• Practical experience in fault finding, installations, testing, and maintenance. 

• Understanding of safe work practices and ability to work on ladders/ceilings/roofs where required  (role dependent). 

• Full New Zealand driver licence OR overseas equivalent license preferred (or ability to travel reliably to  job sites). 

• Good written and spoken communication skills; reliable and punctual.
