Hours: 40 hours per week (Minimum 30 hours guaranteed)
We’re looking for a reliable Mechanical Engineering Technician to plan drawings and conduct tests of equipment and plants of our mechanical production line, collects and analyses data, and assembles and installs mechanical assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
- Being full responsible for preparing drawings, sketches, plans, designs, instructions and models for machines, equipment, mechanical installations and facilities
- Reviewing plans for new products, discussing with producers of materials during the investigation and evaluation of materials suitable for specific product manufacturing
- Recommending material selection in accordance with design specifications and factors such as strength, weight and cost, market trends, and customers’ preference
- Ensuring that the selection of tools, materials and equipment is in compliance with the relevant rules and standards
- Estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements
- Selecting proper tools, equipment, assembling and installing new and modified components, machine tools and controls
- Providing mechanical related technical assistance in introducing and installing new mechanical equipment and plants
- Making sure the finished works are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions
- Diagnosing defects in materials and instituting remedial action
- Monitoring the operation and maintenance of equipment to achieve maximum efficiency under safe operating conditions
- Performing and directing product tests and measurements
- Organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant.
- Collecting, reviewing and analyzing product data, including failure data, defect rate, carrying out complex computations and preparing diagrams and modeling to advise on ways to overcome and avoid any problems
- Studying pollution/waste control problems if any, taking remedial measures and facilitating safe and health work practice.
- Providing supervision and training and support to the workshop workers for a full range of engineering related technical duties.
Requirements
- NZQF Level 5 Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering field, or at least 3 years’ relevant work experience.
- Strong safety mindset and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and reliability.
- Clean police record and can pass drug tests
