We are seeking a commercially driven and analytical Retail Buyer to manage purchasing, supplier negotiations, and inventory planning for our retail operations. The successful applicant will be responsible for sourcing quality products, maintaining optimal stock levels, and maximising profitability through strategic procurement and supplier management.
Key Responsibilities

Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, price, reliability, and service.

Negotiate purchasing terms, pricing agreements, and contracts with suppliers.

Analyse sales data, consumer trends, and seasonal demand to forecast stock requirements.

Plan and manage inventory levels to avoid overstocking or stock shortages.

Monitor product performance and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.

Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and financial controls.

Coordinate with marketing and store management teams on promotional planning.

Maintain accurate purchasing records, reports, and cost analyses.
Skills and Experience Required
Applicants must meet one of the following:

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in retail buying, procurement, supply chain, or merchandise planning; OR

A relevant NZQF Level 5 or higher qualification in Business, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or Retail Management.
Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:

Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

Commercial awareness and understanding of retail market trends.

Experience with inventory management systems and sales forecasting tools.
