Class 5 Truck Driver

Location: Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga 
Pay Rate: $33 – $36 per hour (based on skills and experience)
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week

Sidhwan Transport Limited is seeking responsible and reliable Class 5 Truck Drivers to join our transport team. The role involves carrying out deliveries across New Zealand while ensuring safety, efficiency, and top-quality service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Load and unload goods safely and efficiently, including operating lifting and tipping equipment or manual handling and heavy lifting when required.
• Drive and operate trucks in a safe, responsible, and professional manner, adhering to all road and transport regulations.
• Manoeuvre trucks into position for safe and efficient loading and unloading operations.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of the vehicle before each journey, including checks on oil, water, fuel, and tyre pressure, to ensure compliance with road safety and vehicle maintenance standards.
• Estimate load weights to comply with legal load limitations and ensure the safe and even distribution of goods within the vehicle.
• Secure all goods properly using appropriate strapping or restraints and ensure they are unloaded safely at the destination.
• Inspect goods upon loading and delivery for any signs of damage, and promptly complete incident or damage reports as required.
• Review delivery schedules, check delivery locations, read maps, and plan efficient routes to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
• Maintain accurate records by completing logbooks, delivery documentation, and verifying paperwork for correctness before submission.
• Comply with all traffic and road safety laws at all times and represent the company in a professional and courteous manner while on duty.

Requirements

• A valid Class 5 driver’s licence – mandatory
• Minimum 1 year of experience driving in a similar heavy vehicle or transport role – preferred
• Knowledge in Swinglift and port operations, would be an advantageous. 
• Understanding of road and transport regulations, with a strong commitment to road safety compliance
• Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive commitment to safety standards
• Proficient in using GPS navigation systems
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to plan routes efficiently and meet delivery schedules
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for effective coordination with clients and dispatch teams
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible – available for early morning shifts, weekends, or public holidays as required. The role may also involve occasional overnight stays depending on delivery routes and schedules.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks, including loading, unloading, and securing freight
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Maintains a professional appearance and attitude, representing the company positively on the road
