Metafuture Construction Ltd is an Auckland-based construction company supervising and building high-quality construction projects as Main Contractor, providing Design to Build and Turn Key, New Residential Development & Subdivision, Construction Management, Renovation, Plumbing, Gas fitting and Drainage and other bespoke Construction Services.
Due to the growth of our business, we are seeking an in-house Interior Designer to join our team. Your responsibilities will be:
Client and Stakeholders Consultation
- Consult with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to determine design objectives, scope, budget, and timeline to meet the relevant standards and customers’ needs.
- Develop innovative interior design concepts aligned with client goals, brand identity, and functional use.
- Analyse client requirements, functional needs, and regulatory considerations to produce a comprehensive design brief.
- Identify spatial, functional, efficiency, safety, and aesthetic requirements on a project-by-project basis.
- Evaluate design feasibility concerning cost, practicality, sustainability, and compliance requirements.
Design Communication and Presentation
- Prepare sketches, diagrams, plans, and visual presentations to effectively communicate proposed design concepts.
- Produce layout plans, colour schemes, and spatial arrangements for client’s review.
- Revise and refine design proposals regarding the feedback from clients, stakeholders and other construction teams.
- Select, specify, and recommend appropriate materials, finishes, fixtures, fittings, furniture, and interior products
- Ensure selected materials meet functional, aesthetic, durability, safety, and budgetary requirements.
- Prepare detailed schedules and specifications for procurement and installation.
Coordination and Liaison
- Liaise and negotiate design solutions with clients and other stakeholders where necessary, such as sub-contractors, suppliers, and construction personnel.
- Coordinate with other in-house team members to ensure integrated design outcomes.
- Resolve design conflicts, technical issues, or site problems through collaborative problem-solving skills.
Documentation and Filing
- Ensure documentation complies with relevant building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate project records, revisions, and approval documentation.
Our ideal candidate will be:
- A NZQF Level 6 Diploma or higher in Design or a related discipline, or 3-year relevant working experience in substitution.
- Familiar with designing software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, etc.
- Proficient in technical drafting and documentation, and relevant regulations.
- Proficient communication and negotiation skills.
- Fundamental knowledge of construction processes and materials
- Attention to detail and quality assurance focus
- Project coordination and time-management skills
- Familiarity with other on-site disciplines, such as plumbers, electricians, and gasfitters, is an advantage but not essential.
- Be able to travel to sites occasionally when required.
