Jize Glass Limited is located in Auckland. We specialize in the manufacture and installation of glass products and accessories. We now need one Welder to help us to provide top-quality service. This is a full-time job with guaranteed hours of 30 hours per week. 

The job involves the following tasks and duties:  

· Study blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements

· Interpret glazing system drawings, structural steel details, and installation layouts

· Confirm measurements and material specifications prior to fabrication

· Select, clean, and prepare metal stock for fabrication

· Mark out metal sections and shapes in accordance with project drawings

· Cut marked-out metal sections using hand tools, flame cutting torches, or metal cutting machines

· Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools

· Heat and hammer materials where required to achieve the correct form

· Fabricate frames, brackets, supports, and structural components for glass systems

· Align parts to be joined using hand tools and precision measuring instruments

· Ensure structural accuracy and dimensional compliance

· Prepare assemblies for site installation

· Join metal sections using various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Arc welding)

· Bolt and rivet components were specified

· Ensure structural integrity and compliance with design requirements

· Examine welds for width of bead, penetration, alignment, structural precision,  rectify defects where necessary, and maintain fabrication quality standards

· Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and bathing in acidic solutions (where required)

· Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiselling, and grinding

· Prepare finished metal components for powder coating, galvanising, or installation


To qualify for the job, you will need to have:

  • At least two years of work experience in the same role; alternatively, a Level 4 or higher relevant qualification may substitute for the work experience requirement
  • Motivated with a positive work attitude and strong communication skills
  • Reliable with consistent attendance
  • Physically fit and capable of handling a heavy workload
  • High standard of workmanship with strong attention to detail
  • Committed to health and workplace safety practices
  • Ability to work independently
  • Able to pass health, drug, and criminal checks if required
